Comment text is sent to OpenAI for screening without your account identifier. Text may itself contain personal information; do not include private information. Provider retention follows the configured service terms and is not guaranteed to be zero. Account exports include comments and comment likes. Deleting a comment clears its body and likes; deleting a parent hides its reply thread. Account deletion clears your comment bodies and likes, subject to separately retained moderation evidence and legal obligations. Held, rejected and removed comment bodies are cleared after 210 days from creation, the latest decision or the most recent case resolution, whichever is later. They are retained while a related case remains open. Replies hidden by deletion of their parent are cleared after 210 days, subject to the same case holds.
Who controls your information
The operator listed below is the data controller. Contact the privacy address for questions, access, correction, deletion, objection, restriction or portability requests. We may need proportionate identity verification to protect your data. We aim to respond within one month, subject to lawful extensions. You may complain to your national data protection authority.
Information we process
Account identifiers, email, credentials or linked sign-in identifiers, country, date of birth, profile details, entries, votes, follows, blocks, preferences, consent records, credit transactions, reports and technical security records are processed. Your full name, date of birth, email and individual voting history are private. Public attribution uses your nickname. A shipping address is not collected at registration; any future physical-prize delivery will require a separate, purpose-specific fulfilment step. Stripe handles payment card details; we retain payment references and credit accounting. Photos and videos are processed to generate optimized versions and remove unnecessary metadata.
Why and on what basis
Account operation, requested competitions and purchases use data needed to perform the service contract. Security, fraud prevention, moderation and service reliability rely on applicable legitimate interests, assessed against your rights, or legal duties where required. Required accounting, lawful requests and content obligations use the applicable legal basis. Optional analytics require consent, which can be withdrawn in settings. Do not interpret optional analytics consent as acceptance of unrelated processing.
Recommendations and minors
For eligible adult accounts with personalization enabled, ranking uses category interests from participation/voting, follows, recency, prior views and relevant results. No external AI service determines your feed. You can disable interest personalization. Teen accounts default to private profiles, without behavioral personalization or promotional email. Paid credit purchases are restricted to adults in this version. We do not provide direct messaging or targeted advertising.
Processors and transfers
Configured providers may include Cloudflare for storage and delivery, Stripe for payments, Google or Apple for requested sign-in, an email delivery provider and OpenAI for content safety review. Country flags load from FlagsAPI; your browser shares its network address when requesting them, without a page referrer. Content sent for review should contain no unnecessary personal information. Configure appropriate processor agreements, retention settings and lawful international transfer safeguards before public launch. The final processor, region and transfer list must be completed by the operator.
Retention and deletion
Account data remains while the account is active unless a shorter period applies. Feed sessions expire after an hour; recommendation impressions after 90 days; in-app notifications expire after 180 days and are removed by scheduled cleanup. You can delete one notification, a category or your entire inbox earlier. Deleting inbox notifications does not erase purchase records or moderation decisions and does not affect appeal rights. Email or push delivery already in progress or completed cannot be recalled. A minimal send-history receipt without message text is retained until account deletion to prevent duplicate delivery. Abandoned uploads are cleaned after one day. Account deletion hides public content immediately and queues media erasure. Payment, disputes, safety evidence and legal obligations may require limited retention; national accounting periods and case-specific holds must be configured by the operator. Backups expire according to the deployed backup policy. Public deletion does not mean required financial records disappear immediately.
Your choices
Use Settings to control profile privacy, notifications, personalization, cookies, connected account security, data export and deletion. Block members and report unwanted content. Data exports are private downloads. If a concern cannot be handled in the app, contact the privacy address below. We do not claim that an automated classifier can establish authenticity or resolve every complaint.
Support and privacy correspondence
Adam Ouhrabka handles support requests, complaints and privacy requests. Resend receives and delivers these emails, and Adam uses a Google Gmail mailbox to manage the correspondence. Send only the details needed to handle your request. Deleting your DareHit account does not automatically erase complaint or payment correspondence that still needs to be kept. Correspondence is retained only as long as needed to resolve the request or meet applicable legal obligations.
