Help & rules

Find out how to join dares, vote and use credits. Reward rules can differ between dares, so check the rules on the dare you join.

Topics

Getting started: what can I do for free?

Choose a real-life dare, complete the challenge and share the result in a new photo or short video. Joining and voting are free. Creating your own dare costs 1 credit. A winner can earn 1 credit when the reward rules are met. There are no cash or physical prizes, and taking part, receiving likes or spending credits doesn’t guarantee a reward. A new dare is checked before people can join. Once entries close, voting begins. We then count the votes, check the reward conditions and publish the results. Read each dare’s instructions and deadlines before joining. This guide covers member accounts; DareHit can also publish its own dares.

Accounts, eligibility and welcome credits

Use accurate age and country information. Registration shows the current eligibility requirement for your country; access for under-18s can be unavailable even where a lower minimum age is displayed. Credit purchases are adult-only. Verify your email and finish onboarding before participating. Complete required account details again if the app asks you to. A new member receives five welcome credits once after verified registration and completed onboarding. Signing in again, changing a profile or repeating onboarding does not grant another five credits. Your nickname is public; your full name, email and date of birth are private. Your nickname is fixed after onboarding; contact support for country or birth-date corrections. Never create extra accounts to obtain welcome credits or manipulate rewards.

How do I create a dare?

Choose Create a dare. Add a title, explain what people should do and show in their photo or video, choose one or more categories, and set how long people have to enter. Creating the dare uses 1 credit immediately, before we review it. If your dare is waiting for review, check the saved dare rather than creating it again. Review may take longer if the safety check is unavailable. The entry countdown starts when the first entry is published. Until then, the dare stays open for its first entry. If we reject it during its first review, before it has ever been published, we return the creation credit you paid, once. Deleting the dare yourself while it waits won’t return that credit. Members can create up to 10 dares in any 24-hour period. Other account and safety limits may also apply. Creating a dare doesn’t guarantee that people will see it, join, vote or win a credit.

How much time is there to enter and vote?

When you create a dare, choose one of these schedules: • 3 hours to enter, then 1 hour to vote. • 1 day to enter, then 1 day to vote. • 3 days to enter, then 1 day to vote. • 1 week to enter, then 1 day to vote. Times use the time zone in your profile. Visitors without a saved time zone see Prague time. You can change your time zone in Settings. Voting starts after entries close. Your entry must finish uploading, processing and any required review before the entry deadline. Send it early enough for these steps to finish. A connection problem or delayed review doesn’t extend the deadline. DareHit uses its own clock to check deadlines, so a countdown left open on an old page may be out of date.

How do I add a photo or video?

Open a dare that is accepting entries and read its instructions. Select Join dare, then take a new photo or video using the camera in DareHit. Allow camera access when your browser asks. Video also needs microphone access and can be up to 20 seconds long. Photos and videos must meet the app’s file-format and size checks. The upload limit is 50 MiB. Your account can start up to 25 photo or video uploads in any 24-hour period, including profile photos. Other upload limits also apply. If the time to send your photo or video runs out, take a new one before the dare closes. You can send only one entry per dare. Deleting it or having it rejected does not let you send a replacement. Seeing your preview or finishing an upload doesn’t mean the entry is published yet: check the message beside your entry. Only share content you have permission to use. Don’t pass off generated or altered photos or videos as a real recording.

Why isn’t my entry visible yet?

We prepare photos for display and run the required entry checks before publishing them. Videos also need a visual safety check and preparation for playback. If a check fails, is unavailable or finds a possible safety issue, the entry may wait for review or be rejected. You may still see your own entry while others can’t view or vote for it. All required checks must finish and the entry must be published before entries close. Uploading before the deadline alone is not enough. If review finishes too late, the entry can’t compete in that dare. You’ll receive a decision and can appeal. An appeal doesn’t automatically extend the deadline or add a late entry to completed results. Taking photos in the app and running automatic checks can’t guarantee that every entry is genuine or safe.

How do votes, likes and promotion differ?

When voting opens, tap an entry’s heart to give it a vote. You can vote for several entries, including your own, with one vote per entry. Tap again to remove a vote before voting closes. Vote totals are visible during voting. The final total can change if an entry or vote doesn’t meet the rules. Only you can see your individual voting history. Votes on entries help decide the winner. Likes on dares help people discover those dares. Likes on comments show appreciation for a comment. Paid promotion adds points to a dare’s support total. Dare likes, promotion points, comment likes, follows and saves never count as votes for a competition entry.

How the winner is selected

After voting closes, we count the votes and check the reward conditions. “Counting votes” means the result is not final yet; an award is not paid just because the countdown reaches zero. Eligible entries must be published with photos or videos ready to view, belong to active, undeleted, public profiles, and be in a dare that has not been hidden. Votes from suspended or deleted accounts do not count. Among eligible entries, the highest valid vote total leads. A tie is resolved by the earliest entry creation time; an exact time tie is resolved by the entry’s unique ID. A tie never creates multiple awards. There must be at least two eligible entries, a positive leading vote total and at least one vote for someone else’s entry. New dares also use the outside-support rule below. If all requirements pass, exactly one winning entry receives exactly one credit. There is no overall limit on how many different dares an account can win.

Back to topics

The additional outside-support rule

For dares using this rule, the otherwise winning entry must have at least one vote from a member who meets all of these conditions when results are calculated: • Their email is verified. • Their profile existed before the dare was created. • Their account is neither suspended nor deleted. • They are not the dare’s creator. • They have not entered that dare, including with an entry later removed or rejected. A creator’s vote, an entrant’s vote or a newly created profile cannot supply this required support. Those votes may still count in the ordinary vote total when valid. Support for a different entry does not satisfy the leading entry’s requirement. If the leader lacks qualifying support, no credit is awarded: it does not pass to a runner-up. The rule applies to dares created after this safeguard was introduced. Older dares retain the previous rule, including during later corrections. The dare’s reward-rule label tells you which applies. This check does not prove that voters are independent. Account farming, bought votes and coordinated manipulation remain prohibited.

Why a dare can end with no credit

These examples explain common outcomes: • One eligible entry and many votes: no award, because two eligible entries are required. • Two eligible entries but no votes, or only self-votes: no award. • Two entrants vote for each other: no award under the outside-support rule unless the leading entry also has qualifying outside support. • An outside member votes only for the runner-up: no award if the leader still lacks that support. • An entry is rejected, removed, late, or its author is private, suspended or deleted: it may not count toward the two eligible entries. A one-entry dare may still appear during voting. Appearing in voting is not a promise of a reward. A dare with no entry records is removed from public discovery after submissions close, its creator is notified and the creation credit is not returned. Dares with pending, rejected or removed entries can follow a different review path, but those records do not become eligible entries merely by existing. Creating, entering or voting in a dare does not itself create a right to a winner credit.

Your credit balance and history

Use credits to create and promote dares. They are tied to your account. They cannot be transferred to another member or cashed out as prize money. You can receive five welcome credits once, buy credits, or earn one credit from a qualifying win. The Credits page shows your balance, recent credit history and purchases. An award is recorded once. Reloading a result, voting again, receiving repeat notifications or retrying a request does not create an extra award. A reviewed correction can remove a previously awarded credit. If a purchase reversal or result correction creates a credit amount to offset, future credits first reduce that amount before increasing your spendable balance. Check both the history and any adjustment notice when a new credit does not appear in the balance. This is not a demand to pay money.

Buying credits and pending payments

Open Credits, choose a quantity and review the displayed currency, total price and purchase terms before confirming. Prices use the supported local currency; the checkout total is the amount to check. Purchases are available to adults and use Stripe-hosted checkout. Buying credits does not buy competition votes or guarantee a win. Credits are delivered after confirmed payment, not simply after opening checkout or returning to DareHit. A pending confirmation can take time. Use the purchase status and payment-check action rather than paying again. Closing checkout does not necessarily mean a payment failed. If a payment is charged but credits remain missing, contact support with the purchase reference. Never send your password, full card number or security code.

Credit returns, purchase withdrawal and refunds

Spending a credit to create a dare and purchasing a pack of credits are different transactions. Creation credit: initial rejection before first publication returns the credit actually charged once. Voluntary deletion, removing the dare from your profile, requesting cancellation, receiving no entries, losing or ending without an award does not automatically return it. A free creation cannot generate a credit return. Credit purchase: the existing purchase terms provide a 14-day withdrawal route without asking you to waive it. Open Credits → the purchase → Withdraw from purchase → Confirm withdrawal, or contact support. You can also request review of a payment problem. Used credits do not automatically remove your rights. Refunds and purchase reversals may remove credits and create an offset shown in your account. See Credits & purchases for the full withdrawal process, refund timing and current terms. This guide does not remove rights concerning failed delivery, defects, incorrect charges or other mandatory remedies. A valid complaint or appeal is still welcome.

How do I promote a dare?

Choose how many promotion points to add and check the cost before confirming. Each credit adds 10 promotion points. The support total shown on the dare combines member likes and paid promotion points. Promotion helps a dare appear in discovery, but doesn’t guarantee a position, views, entries, votes or rewards. It never adds votes to a competition entry or changes who can win. Entry voting stays free. Paying to promote a dare is separate from buying credits and from the 1 credit used to create a dare.

Feeds, rankings and leaderboards

Your feed can mix dares and entries based on availability, freshness, people you follow, participation, likes and optional interests. Labels explain why an item appears. You can change personalization and interests in Settings. Visibility also depends on privacy, blocks, moderation and whether an item is still available. An item’s absence from one feed does not mean it was deleted. Position in your feed is not the competition result. Leaderboards use completed eligible results, with wins first, then evaluated entry count, then nickname and an internal account number if there is still a tie. Period, country, category and Following filters change the displayed ranking. Hidden content, private or suspended profiles, blocks and open result disputes can exclude results. A leaderboard position does not create a separate credit award.

Public profiles, private profiles and blocking

Public profile content can be visible to other members and visitors. In this version, a private profile hides its content from other people; following is not an approval mechanism for access to private content. A private author’s entry is not eligible for a public competition award when results are calculated. Changing privacy can therefore affect participation and results. Teen profiles must remain private and have additional limits on personalization and optional notifications. Your individual voting history remains private. Blocking restricts visibility and interaction between the two accounts and removes their follow connections. Unblocking does not automatically restore follows. Blocking does not automatically erase earlier votes or rewrite completed results. Saved items and direct links do not bypass privacy or moderation. People may retain copies they previously saw; making content private or deleting it cannot recall someone else’s copy.

Following, saving, commenting and sharing

Follow people with public profiles to find their dares and entries. To keep an entry for later, tap its bookmark. Find saved entries on your profile and organize them into private collections. Only you can see what you’ve saved, and saving doesn’t award credits. If the original entry becomes unavailable, saving it won’t let you keep viewing it. You can comment on entries and reply to a comment. Replies can’t have their own replies. Comments are checked before publication and may wait for review or be rejected. Liking a comment doesn’t count as a vote for the entry. Deleting a comment also hides its replies. Direct messages aren’t available. Use Share on a dare or entry to share its link. If your device doesn’t offer sharing options, copy the link instead. Sharing doesn’t make private content public: the person opening the link still needs permission to view it. Sharing also doesn’t guarantee a vote.

Where do I find updates?

Open Notifications for new activity, results and decisions about your content. In Settings, choose which activity updates you want to receive. Email updates have separate settings and limits. We still send necessary account, payment and moderation messages. Not every update arrives by email or as a device notification. Check the dare itself for its current deadlines and results, and Credits for your balance and history. Missing or delayed notifications don’t extend deadlines or change rewards or payments. A repeated notification doesn’t mean you’ve earned a second reward. Links to removed or restricted content may no longer open. Find decisions and appeal options in Settings → Reports & support.

What happens when I delete an entry?

You can delete your entry while it is being prepared, waiting for review or already published. Confirm deletion and wait for the success message. If results aren’t final yet, your entry will no longer take part. If results are already final, deleting the entry won’t automatically change the result or remove an awarded credit. You cannot send a replacement entry to the same dare after deleting one. Deleting an entry does not refund credits or payments. We may keep limited competition, accounting and moderation records as explained in the privacy notice. Deleting photos and videos can take longer, and links issued earlier may still work briefly. For a privacy or safety concern, contact support as well.

Back to topics

Can I delete or cancel my dare?

You can delete a dare only if nobody has ever sent an entry to it. Entries still waiting for review, rejected entries and deleted entries count for this restriction. If someone has entered, you can choose Remove from profile instead. The dare disappears from your Created tab, but the dare and other people’s entries remain available wherever their privacy and moderation settings allow. For a dare that is still running, you can ask a moderator to cancel it. The dare keeps running with the same deadlines until a decision is made. A request doesn’t immediately cancel it or return your creation credit. Finished dares with entries normally remain available, subject to privacy and moderation. Deleting your own dare doesn’t return the creation credit, even before its first review finishes. Your separate purchase and privacy rights still apply.

Safety, authenticity and fair play

Choose safe, lawful challenges. Do not post dangerous instructions, exploitation, harassment, hate, threats, private information or content you have no right to share. Never buy votes, farm accounts, evade restrictions or coordinate fraudulent voting. Self-voting and voting for multiple entries are allowed within the ordinary rules; that does not permit manipulation. Report a safety issue using Report on the relevant content. Use Fake for a suspected authenticity issue. A report alone is not proof and does not automatically remove an entry or a reward. A confirmed authenticity finding may affect discovery placement; changing a completed award requires a result review. Checks can miss problems or make mistakes. For imminent danger, contact the appropriate emergency service rather than waiting for an app report.

Reports, appeals and result corrections

Use Settings → Reports & support to review your reports and moderation decisions. Open the relevant decision, read the reason and use the available appeal action if you disagree. Include the dare or entry link, decision reference and a specific explanation of what was missed. A report, appeal or cancellation request does not itself grant credits or pause the contest. Completed results are not silently replaced. A documented review can exclude invalid entries or votes, correct a result and adjust credits, with affected members notified. Corrections use the reward rule stored for that dare and do not admit an entry that missed the original evaluation. If you believe a credit is missing because of an error, ask for a review. This guide explains eligibility; it does not bar complaints, appeals or applicable consumer rights.

My entry, payment or credit seems stuck

Check your internet connection and whether you’re still signed in. If an upload is still running, keep its page open. Once it has finished, check the message beside your entry to see whether it is being prepared, waiting for review, rejected or published. If the camera won’t open, check its permission in your browser settings and make sure the dare is still accepting entries. For a missing reward credit, check: • Have the dare’s results been finalized? • Did at least two entries meet the competition rules? • Were there votes that met the reward rules? • Did the leading entry receive the required vote from someone outside the dare, if that rule applies? • Is a review or credit adjustment shown? • Does the award already appear in Credit history? For a payment, check its status and purchase reference on the Credits page. Don’t pay again or create another copy of a dare just because a confirmation is missing. If you still need help, contact support with the relevant link or reference, the approximate time, and what you expected to happen. Don’t send passwords, full card details, security codes or unnecessary identity documents.

Managing or deleting your account

In Settings, you can edit your profile, manage sign-in methods offered by the app, choose privacy and notification settings, download your data and request account deletion. You can also find your content and reports. Download anything you want to keep before deleting your account. You’ll need to have signed in recently. Deletion hides your profile and entries immediately; removing their photos and videos may take longer. We may need to keep some financial, moderation and legal records, as explained in the privacy notice. Deletion doesn’t automatically refund purchases or change past results. Ask for a purchase review separately if you need one. Some app screens may still open without an internet connection. You need to reconnect to send entries, vote, buy credits or see current results.
